Unity is a game development tool for multi-platform games which has been designed to ease creation. It is a powerful engine and fully integrated professional application. The Unity editor is able to update the status instantly as soon as the files are modified. The Unity asset server is available on Mac, Windows and Linux and it runs on PostgreSQL, the open source database server.
The licensing for Unity comes in two parts. They are the Unity and Unity Pro. The Unity version is available for free, whilst the Unity Pro version can only be purchased. The Unity Pro version comes with additional features such as post processing effects and render to texture effects. The Unity version that is free displays a stream for web games and splash screen for standalone games. The Unity and Unity Pro provide tutorials, content, sample projects, wiki, support via the forum and future updates. Unity used on the iPhone, iPod and iPad operating system which is iOS come as add-ons to the existing purchase of the Unity editor, The same rule applies to the Android as well.
